  • Giving Back
Visits to the White waters Secondary school, our traditional healer, Ndebele villages, the local clinic and the community in general is something that should not be missed. This tour gives you an insight into the way the people of Zimbabwe live, as well as giving you the opportunity to get involved in giving something back to the people of Zimbabwe.

Big Cave has been involved with the local community since the 1990's. Clients that visited Big Cave were encouraged to donate funds that were then managed and invested in various projects :

Whitewater's Secondary School
  • Construction of the library, and donation of books.
  • Donation of science desks for the Science laboratory.
  • Feeding the school children lunch when drought conditions occurred.
  • Donation of sports kit for football and netball.
  • "Tree of Life" : Sponsorship of HIV affected school children. See our charity page for more details of this worthwhile cause.
  • Currently we are busy building a new computer room with donated funds from Peter Karaszi, and will be dedicated to his parents who were great believers in education. The process will be managed by ourselves and will provide computer facilities for 25 pupils. This project can be followed through the newly formed Instagram account, karaszifoundation.

Natisa Clinic
  • Construction of the maternity unit at the Natisa clinic

Our local Ndebele traditional healer is an incredibly interesting women, with a vast knowledge of natural remedies, as well as the traditional "throwing of the bones".

Once a year we take the 16 most successful final year students on a field trip to Bulawayo, to view the Bulawayo History Museum. After this they return to Big Cave to have a delicious lunch, and then they have a swim in the rock pool, followed by lectures by our resident guides on the importance of tourism.
